She was the wife of the late Charles Grantland Hahn. She resided at Alden Court in Fairhaven where she received exceptional care and much love. She formerly resided in Randolph, MA for 50 years.
Born in Wareham, MA, on February 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Luther T. and Marian A. (Crocker) Brownell. Virginia graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in 1942 and was a retired secretary.
Virginia had been a member of the First Congregational Church in Randolph since 1973 and was an active member of their Drusilla Circle for many years.
She will always be remembered for her meticulous letter writing and her thoughtfulness. She cared deeply for all her friends and family. No matter the special occasion, one could always count on receiving a greeting card from Virginia filled with news and happy wishes. Virginia loved writing and the English language and kept detailed diaries of her daily life and many adventures.
Mom had a great passion for music. Her mother was an accomplished musician. One of Mom’s many memories of her was watching her playing for the silent movies at the Warr Theatre in Wareham while Mom sat in the front row. Mom herself played the piano and organ, and on occasion entertained the folks at Alden Court.
She cherished her family and friends, enjoyed traveling, and enjoyed the birds and flowers.
She will be greatly missed by her family, son Dennis Hahn and his fiancée June Hiller of South Carolina; daughter-in-law Lisa Maffei Hahn of Pennsylvania; daughter Beverly (Hahn) Giacobbi and her husband John Giacobbi and grandson John Grantland Giacobbi of Fairhaven; step nephew James Brownell and his wife Muriel Brownell of Florida. She was also preceded in death by her son David S. Hahn, brother Luther Bainbridge Page and stepsister Mildred Brownell.
