HAWE, John, of Braintree, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2022, at the age of 90. Born in Boston, John worked as a clerk for Inspectional Services for the City of Boston. John was the beloved husband of the late Jean (Gouthro) Hawe. Loving father of John T. Hawe of Braintree, Robert J. Hawe and his wife Cheryl of Braintree, Michael Hawe and his wife Lori Dunne of Braintree, James Hawe and his wife Laura of Hanson, Paula Gallello and her husband Frank of Holbrook, William Hawe of Braintree, Denise Larivee and her husband Scott of Braintree and the late Thomas Hawe. Devoted brother of Marlene Norman of Holbrook. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
John was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army. His personal accomplishments in life were many and extraordinary, but some include multiple championships in the welterweight division in the US Army, including golden gloves, silver mittens, and Massachusetts state champ for Ring 4 Hall of Fame. He was an avid marathon runner, excelled at several sports, and a Friend of Bill’s. His prize possession was his family. Family always came first.
Reposing at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington Street, Braintree until 9:15 AM on Monday, December 12th followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, located at 856 Washington Street, Braintree, MA . Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Sunday December 11th from 4:00PM – 8:00PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
