JOYCE, James M.” Jimmy”, Jr., of Beacon, NY, formerly of Holbrook, passed away after a long illness, on November 29, 2022, at the age of 66. Born and raised in Holbrook, Jim graduated from Holbrook High School. Jim also was a graduate of St. Anslem College and Fordham University, where he received his Master’s degree. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. He spent 20 years serving as a Lieutenant in United States Air Force Intelligence. His first 5 years were spent as an Intelligence Officer at Ramstein Air Force base in Germany and he was later deployed to Uzbekistan after 911 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning from the military, Jimmy began a 30-year career as a school teacher in the Newburgh School System, in NY. He was an avid college sports fan, especially the University of Nebraska, a former member of the drum and bugle corps in Randolph, and in his free time Jimmy enjoyed volunteering his time at the “Udderly Fresh Farm” in Washingtonville, NY. A devoted son, brother, uncle and friend, Jimmy will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Jim was the beloved son of Evelyn (Friar) Joyce of Holbrook and the late James M. Joyce. Loving brother of Dorothy Sorocco and her husband Jim of Halifax, Carol Micciche and her husband Michael of Holbrook, John Joyce and his wife Karen of Marshfield and Evelyn DeMartino and her husband Michael of Massapequa, NY. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Saturday, December 10th, from 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (RT. 28), Randolph. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 153 So. Franklin St., Holbrook. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James’ name to the Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Rd, Bronx, NY 10461.
