CURRIE , William A. “Bill”, of Holbrook, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully after a long illness, on October 23, 2022, at the age of 90. Born and raised in Quincy, Bill graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1951. Soon after, he enlisted in the service and proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Bill worked for many years as a Barber in Weymouth, and then worked in the Holbrook School System as a maintenance man and then finally he spent time working at the Holbrook Hardware Center before his retirement. Bill also was the Trip Coordinator for the Holbrook Council on Aging for many years and a longtime member of the Holbrook Knights of Columbus. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Bill will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Bill was the husband of the late Carol A. (Carey) Currie. Loving father of Cheryl DeFilippis and her husband Michael of Falmouth, Scott Currie and his wife Katie of Centerville, Kathleen DeWolfe and her husband Bernard of Holbrook, Jacqueline Morgan and her husband James of Holbrook, William Currie of Whitman and the late Jeffrey W. Currie. Devoted brother of Janet Merchant of Hanover and Helen E. Reed of S. Weymouth. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, November 1st from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 68 So. Franklin St. (RT 37), Holbrook. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 2nd, at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 153 So. Franklin St., Holbrook. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Holbrook.
