BREEN, Joseph “Russell”, of Braintree, formerly of Quincy, passed away on September 26, 2022, after a brief illness, at the age of 78. Born in Boston, Russ grew up in Quincy and graduated from Quincy Trade School, Class of 1961. He then enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 – 1964. Russ was a helicopter mechanic assigned to HS-3 on board the USS Intrepid. Russ was retired from Chrysler Financial Corp. after 27 years of dedicated service. He was a longtime active member of the Town River Yacht Club in Quincy. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Russ will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Russ was the husband of the late Paula M. (Cicchese) Breen. Loving father of Gregory Breen of Braintree. Son of the late Francis and Elizabeth Breen. Devoted brother of Bernard F. Breen and his late wife Shirley of Weymouth and Chester C. Breen and his wife Nancy of Weymouth. Dear brother-in-law of Michael Cicchese and his wife Harlene of St. Louis and Barbara Goldson of St. Louis and her husband Robert of Spanish Wells, Bahamas. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 30th, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 1st, at 11:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 18 Canton St, Stoughton, MA 02072.
