VARRASO, Michael Anthony, born in Quincy, MA, July 4, 1969, the youngest of six children, born to Alfred W. Varraso and Carmela C. Varraso, passed away suddenly on April 27, 2022. He was 52 years old.

He courageously battled cancer for the past 18 months, always grateful for the blessings of each day even during the most difficult of times. In true Michael-style, his biggest concern was not himself, but rather the heartbreak he knew his family and friends felt for him.
Michael grew up in Braintree, MA and spent most of his life there. Being the only boy and the baby was a position he thoroughly enjoyed and fit him well. He was always full of life and mischief and loved his friends as deeply and as much as he did his family.

Michael graduated from Braintree High School and obtained his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Wentworth Institute. He spent much of his life working as a Construction Supervisor and later in life found tremendous joy working as a paraprofessional and football coach in Boston Public Schools. However, nothing made Michael happier than when he was performing in his band – singing, playing the drums, or just shaking a tambourine – he came to life and the best of his personality shined through. He also spent 6 years in the National Guard, and it was his greatest honor to serve. He was proud of his service and loved his country like no other, thanking every veteran he met and always sending out a salute to veterans each time he performed.

Michael is survived by his loving parents, Alfred and Carmela (Campo) Varraso of Braintree. He was the beloved brother of his sister Rosemarie Berardi of Marshfield, his sister Dolores Bogosian and his brother-in-law David of Canton, his sister Elaine Arata and his brother-in-law Michael of Milford, CT; his sister Lorraine Connolly and his brother-in-law Jim of Plymouth and his sister Linda Varraso and his sister-in-law Michelle of Weymouth. He is also survived by his loving partner Mary Fanning of Braintree. He was a wonderful uncle to Mark, Melissa, Andrew, Ryan, Emily, Nicole, Brian, Joshua, Joseph, Matthew, Christian, Alexander and Sterling. He was a very special grand uncle to Matthew, Emilia and Luna. He is survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, students and friends. Michael is also survived by his beloved dog, Phantom.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, May 4th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree.
