DEPTULA, Bernice, M. “Bernie”, (Kazonis), of Braintree, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on April 24, 2022, at the age of 85. Born in Holyoke, Bernice graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Somerville and moved to Braintree in 1974.

Bernie worked as a nurse's aide at St. Margaret's Hospital in Dorchester for ten years. She later retired from Milton Hospital after twenty years as an admitting representative and switchboard operator. In her free time, she enjoyed travelling, spending time with her family, and her weekly games of bingo with her close friends. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, caregiver, and friend, Bernice will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Bernice was the wife of the late Edward S. “Ed” Deptula. Loving mother of Julie Ames and her husband Richard of W. Bridgewater; Kristine Deptula of Braintree; and Peter Deptula and his wife Daneen of Clinton. Devoted twin sister of William Kazonis of Boston. Cherished “Nana” to Kaitlyn and Michael Deptula.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, May 2nd, at 10:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 850 Washington St., Braintree. Burial will follow in the Braintree Cemetery. Arrangements under the care of the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree.
