GAVIN, GAVIN, Robert W. “Bob”, lifelong resident of Braintree, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2022, at the age of 89. Born, raised and educated in Braintree, Bob graduated Braintree High School before going on to further his education earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University. For many years, he worked as a leather salesman. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bob was an avid Town of Braintree sports fan and loved to keep up on all the teams’ stats. He especially loved to attend the games for his grandchildren, where he would proudly watch them play. You could always find Bob at Dunkin Donuts every morning sharing the latest sports news. Bob enjoyed being a regular and going out to dinner with his wife Mary at D’ Ann’s Restaurant in Abington. He was a very social man, making friends where ever he went. Bob truly loved to live life and cherished every moment of it. He will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Beloved husband of the late Mary K. (Ahern) Gavin. Loving father of Dan Gavin of Holbrook, Cheryl MacDonald and her husband Darron of Braintree, Merrilee Stewart and her husband Bob of Walpole and Stacey Ryan and her husband Tommy of Marshfield. Cherished grandfather of Brooke Doherty, Liana MacDonald, Erik MacDonald, Gavin Stewart and Sarah Ryan. Caring great-grandfather of Hayley, Owen and Connor. Dear son of the late William and Belle (Lavery) Gavin. Devoted brother of Eleanor Campbell of Holbrook, Patricia Gavin of GA, Dave Gavin of GA, and late brother of Jack Gavin and Ronnie Gavin. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Thursday, April 21st, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. Burial will be private. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to the Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA, 18901.
