RICHARDI, Anthony D. “Coach”, lifelong resident of Braintree, passed away suddenly on December 8, 2021, at the age of 82. Born and raised in Braintree, Anthony graduated from Braintree High School. He then went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Springfield College and his Master’s degree from Boston State College. He was a Physical Education teacher at Braintree High School for 40 years. While at the school, Anthony was also the High School Football coach, Track and Field coach and the Wrestling coach, for which he was inducted into the State Coaches Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Braintree Sons of Italy. Anthony was a rabid Boston sports fan and you could often find him cheering on one of his favorite teams, however, his most enjoyable pastimes was family time with his kids and grandchildren, his love of the Christmas season and having coffee with his cousin/best friend, Tony Vecchione every morning at Dunkin Donuts. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Anthony will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Anthony was the beloved husband to his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth “Betty” (Cody) Richardi, for 61 years. Loving father of Cheryl Ryan and her husband John of Marshfield, Stephen Richardi of Braintree and John Richardi and his wife Debby of Braintree. Devoted brother of Marie Alward and her late husband T. Dustin of Randolph and Lorraine Palmer and her husband David of Braintree. Cherished “Papa” to Jackie Ryan, Anthony Richardi, Cody Richardi, Brandon Richardi and Carly Richardi. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, December 14th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Mas will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 15th at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
