JOYCE, James M.” Jimmy”, of Holbrook, originally from Dorchester (OFD), passed away peacefully on November 29, 2021, at the age of 92. Born and raised in Boston, Jim graduated from Boston English High School. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon returning from the military, Jimmy began a 40 year career as an Inspector for the Boston Water and Sewer Commission, retiring in 1994. He also worked for the United States Postal Service in So. Boston and for the Lantana function facility in Randolph for many years. Jimmy was a member of the Randolph DAV Post and the Randolph ELKS. He was an avid sports fan and memorabilia collector, who could often be found cheering on his favorite Boston sports teams and was a 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee as a contributor at Archbishop Williams High School. In his free time Jimmy enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida and Ireland, however, he was dedicated to never missing a sporting event of his children and grandchildren over the years. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, Jimmy will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Jim was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Friar) Joyce. Loving father of James Joyce, Jr. of Beacon, NY, Dorothy Sorocco and her husband Jim of Halifax, Carol Micciche and her husband Michael of Holbrook, John Joyce and his wife Karen of Marshfield and Evelyn DeMartino and her husband Michael of Massapequa, NY. Devoted brother of Sr. Therese Joyce, O.S.F. of Allegheny, NY and the late Sr. Frances Joyce, O.S.F., Patricia Boutilier, John “Joe” Joyce, and Margaret Joyce. Cherished “Papa” to Michael, John, James, Jayna, Kaleigh, Kathryn, Grace, Joseph, Sophia and Ava and “Great Papa” to Jillian, Anthony and Nicolas. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and his late cousin James McDonald. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, December 5th from 3:00 – 7:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (RT. 28), Randolph. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 6th at 10:30 AM in St. Mary Church, 211 No. Main St., Randolph. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
