MITCHELL, Richard R., of Braintree, formerly of Martha’s Vineyard and San Diego, CA, passed away on November 26, 2021, at the age of 53. Born in Norwood, Rich was raised and educated in Braintree. He graduated from Braintree High School, class of 1987, with friendships that continue through today. Rich went on to attend Salem State where he met several more of his lifelong friends. Rich had a passion for golf and enjoyed fishing and playing tennis. He was an avid Boston sports fan, who especially loved the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots. Rich had an amazing sense of humor and loved to make people laugh with his jokes. His family and friends meant the world to him and he cherished the time he spent with them. Rich was a loving, humorous and kind man, who will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Loving son of Evelyn Sullivan of Braintree. Devoted brother of Kimberlee Montana (husband Joseph) of AZ, Daniel Mitchell (wife Kimberly) of Braintree and Keith Mitchell of Braintree. Dear grandson of Russell Sullivan and the late Evelyn (Ryan) Sullivan. Cherished uncle of Jeffrey Mitchell and Brooke Mitchell. Rich is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 2nd, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 3rd, at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to Boston Children’s Hospital on behalf of Jase Russell.
