SLYVA, Michael G., of So. Boston, formerly of Cohasset, Braintree and Dorchester, passed away on September 6, 2021, at the age of 74. Michael was born and raised in Dorchester and resided there for a majority of his life. He also spent time living in Cohasset and Braintree. Michael graduated from English High School in Boston. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. For many years, Michael worked as a press man for the Boston Globe. Michael will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Devoted brother of George Slyva of Milton and Joannie Auvil and her husband Leon of Braintree. Caring uncle of Christen, Brian, Ashley, Mark, Bethany, Garrett and the late Jonathan Slyva. Cherished great-uncle of Mackenzie. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Tuesday, September 14, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Service will immediately follow in the Funeral Home at 7:00 PM. A private burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, W. Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA, 02452 in honor of his brother George and his late mother Helen.
