QUALTER, Frances Meredythe (Chase), of Rockland, formerly of Holbrook, passed away on July 16, 2021, at the age of 81. Born, raised, and educated in Holbrook, Meredythe attended and graduated from Holbrook High School, where she met the love of her life, Richard. After high school, Meredythe worked as a teller at Security Federal Savings Bank in Brockton and then she and Richard married in 1965 and moved to Rockland to start their family. Meredythe gave up her work as a teller to raise her family (daughter, Dianne and son, Richard). Her greatest joy later in life was her two granddaughters (Dara and Jenna). She loved seeing them and talking on the phone with them any chance she could. She was a proud grandmother and loved hearing about their accomplishments. She was also like a mother and grandmother to many other children in her life. She cared for them like they were her own. Meredythe made lifelong connections with many of them, keeping in touch with and caring about them and their children to this day. Meredythe will be missed by many. Anyone who knew Meredythe, knows she was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading local newspapers and doing puzzles. She enjoyed spending time watching the birds on the bird feeders and bird baths in her backyard. She enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Eastham. Meredythe is survived by her devoted husband, Richard M. Qualter, daughter Dianne E. (Qualter) Mooney and her husband Paul of Hyde Park and son Richard F. Qualter and his wife Dina of Sagamore Beach. Devoted grandmother of Dara Qualter and Jenna Qualter of Sagamore Beach. Daughter of the late Francis and Dorothy (Hobart) Chase. Sister of Elaine Millard and her husband Ted of Norton, MA. Sister-in-law of Jacquelyn Qualter and the late Francis Qualter of Bedford, MA, the late Anne (Qualter) Sheehan and her late husband Jack Sheehan of Derry, NH. Meredythe is also survived by two nieces, one nephew, extended family and many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation period on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ending with a brief prayer service at noon at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 S. Franklin Street, Holbrook. Burial will immediately follow at the Union Cemetery, Holbrook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Meredythe’s name to the Rockland Food Pantry, 12 Church Street, Rockland, MA 02370 or to The Home for Little Wanderers, 10 Guest Street, Boston, MA 02135 or at www.thehome.org/donate
