FONG, Edward C., of Braintree for 46 years, formerly of Boston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on June 3, 2021, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 45 years to the late Marilyn “Mal” L. Fong. Predeceased by his brothers Carl, William, and Barry Fong, and survived by George and Pat Fong of New Hampshire, James and Donna Fong of Belmont, and sister-in-laws Armida “AJ” Fong of Arlington and Sherry Fong of California. Devoted father to Jason Fong and his wife Lisa of Milton, and Brandon Fong and his wife Andrea of Newton. Cherished grandfather of Lillian, Nora and Percy Fong of Newton.

Ed was born and educated in Boston after which he went on to proudly serve his country for 3 years in the United States Marie Corp, where he earned the badge of M-14 Rifle Sharpshooter. Ed followed his time in the military with long career as a Technical Illustrator for the Polaroid Corporation for over 25 years. In his early years, Ed was an active member of the Gung Ho Athletic Club in Boston, where he forged lifelong friendships. Ed took pride in his health; he loved to exercise and stay active especially when he would take walks with his late wife Mal – Castle Island was among their favorites. Ed was an avid golfer and member of the Braintree Municipal Golf Course, as well as various other local golf leagues. He was a Braintree socialite, making friends and socializing wherever he went whether it be during times of his volunteerism, recreational activities, or just patronizing local businesses around town. Ed cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who meant the world to him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend memorial visiting hours on Wednesday, June 9th, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 10th, at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215 or Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
