CLARKE, Patrick J. “Paddy”, of E. Braintree, MA, formally of Kilmainhamwood County Meath, Ireland passed away after a short illness at home surrounded by his family, on March 10, 2021 at the age of 80.

Beloved husband of Mary W. (Chisholm) Clarke, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Devoted father of Patrick Clarke and his loving companion Marianne Duggan of Quincy, Mary Theresa Clarke of Braintree, Noreen Clarke and her husband Mark Ronan of Kingston. Paddy was predeceased by his loving daughter Eileen Anne Clarke. Son of the late Thomas and Jane (Smith) Clarke. Brother of Michael Clarke and his wife Eileen of England, Nora Cunniffe of W. Roxbury. Paddy was predeceased by 9 other siblings. He is also survived by his faithful companion Frankie, many nieces, nephews and friends, here and abroad.

For over 60 years, Paddy was a proud member of the United Carpenters Union Local 67. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Braintree Council 1462, a former member of the Meath Minor Intercounty Gaelic Football Club of Ireland, and the Erin’s Hope Gaelic Football Club of Boston.

He was an accomplished Gaelic footballer whose passion for the game lasted throughout his life, supporting many local clubs and teams, most notably his home county club of Meath.

Paddy arrived in the U.S. in 1959 and shortly after met and later married the love of his life Mary Chisholm. In 1973, they moved their family to Braintree, where they have resided for last 48 years.

A skilled carpenter and master union tradesman, Paddy worked all over the City of Boston and South Shore often helping family, friends, and neighbors in his spare time.

He was a man of strong faith who dedicated his life to God and the love and support of his family. Paddy will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity, those attending will be asked to pay their respects and depart to allow the next guests to enter the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, March 17th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A private Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 18th at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, W. Roxbury. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Paddy’s memory to the Quincy Animal Shelter, 56 Broad St., Quincy, MA 02169.
