HOWLETT, HOWLETT, Kathleen S. (Malone) of Avon formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully Feb. 17, 2021, after a period of failing health at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late George C. Howlett. Loving mother of Celeste A. McNamara and her husband Brian of Randolph, Kathleen M. Cartwright and her husband Scott of Holbrook, Brian J. Howlett and his wife Cathryn of Canton, Erin M. DiCenzo and her husband Jeff of Mansfield, Peter J. Howlett of Middleboro and the late George M. Howlett. Devoted sister of Deacon William J. Malone of NJ, the late Sr. Selena Malone I.H.M., Dennis, Joseph, James and Daniel Malone, Alice Berger, Marguerite Burger, June Haran, Ann Haran, Clare Weisgarber, Patricia Weeman, and Regina Crookshank. Cherished grandmother of Lauren Buoniconti and her husband Brian, Scott Cartwright and his longtime companion Vasilis Ioannou, Emily Cartwright PhD and her husband Ryan Martinez MD, PhD, Patrick McNamara, Christopher McNamara, Andrew Howlett, Julianna Howlett, Emma Howlett, Ryan DiCenzo, Danielle DiCenzo, and Erin DiCenzo. Also survived by her great grandchildren Zoe and Owen Buoniconti and Jonas Martinez, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Kathleen was born in Brooklyn, NY where she grew up and graduated from Bay Ridge High School, Class of 1950. She had lived in Avon, MA for over 67 years. She worked for the Telephone Company as an operator for 27 years, retiring in 1996. While at the phone company she worked for NYTel, NETel, AT&T, and Bell Atlantic and was member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a communicant and active member of St. Michael Parish, Avon, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and C.C.D. teacher for many years. She was also a former member of Sacred Heart Elementary School P.T.O. in Brockton. She enjoyed gardening and relished reading the Brockton Enterprise daily. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation period on Tuesday, February 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin St., Holbrook. A private Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday at 12:30 PM in St. Michael Church, Avon followed by burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Avon.
