MARTORANO, Mary P. (Mazzeo), of Abington, passed away at Mass General Hospital, after a brief illness, on February 10, 2021, at the age of 97. Born in Boston, Mary has lived in Abington since 1972. Mary was a vibrant and social woman who was content to happily work until the age of 87. Upon her husband’s passing in 1985, Mary was forced to return to the work force and began working for Sears, first in the service center and then in their offices. Upon its closing, she then began a career as a secretary at the Rockland Credit Union. Mary was most happy when surrounded by her family and friends. She loved to cook and host parties. In her free time, she enjoyed watching her favorite tv shows, solving crossword puzzles and doing ceramics, leaving many treasures for her family to remember her. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Mary will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Mary was the wife of the late Richard Martorano, Sr. Loving mother of Denise McCarthy and her husband Kevin of Marlborough, Richard Martorano, Jr. of OR and Karen Martorano and her partner Erich Heckler of Plymouth. Sister of the late John Donato, Rose Balcunas, Mal Murch, Amelia DeSocio, Paul Donato, Leo Donato and Anthony Mazzeo. Sister-in-law of Joan Mazzeo of Randolph. Cherished “Nana” to Kristen Brown and her husband Matt, Kelly Hayes and her husband Gil, Michael McCarthy and his wife Stephanie, Meaghan Eiland and her husband Danny, Stephen McCarthy and his fiancé Claire Rundelli, Brian McCarthy and his fiancé Renee Pelletier, Anthony Martorano and Elise Martorano. Great “Nana” to Matthew, Sophie, Lucy, Ellie, Braeden, Emma and Riley. Aunt of Adele Hanson of OR, Jeff Mazzeo of CA, Mike Mazzeo of Lynn, Margaret Mazzeo of Randolph. Also survived by many other dear friends and extended family. In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation period on Thursday, February 18th from 9:30 – 11:00 AM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St (Rt. 28), Randolph. A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bernadette Church, Randolph. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
