VANNELLI, Joseph M., 88, of Dorchester, returned to heaven on Thursday, December 31st, 2020. He went peacefully surrounded by loved ones, after a two-year battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Jean (Greene) Vannelli of Braintree, and his children; Laurie Vannelli Coscia and her husband Michael of Scituate, Joseph M. Vannelli Jr. and his wife Patricia of Braintree, Paul Vannelli and his wife Diana of Braintree, and the late Jean Marie Vannelli. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Michael, Jacqueline, Joseph, David and Mia. Joe is a graduate of Christopher Columbus HS he later served in the US Army and went on to graduate from North Eastern University, however, Joe will be remembered most as a 26-year veteran of the Boston Police Department and a 20-year associate with the Boston Police Patrolman's Association where he recently retired. Joe will be missed dearly by all, but will be joined in heaven with those that he loved who passed before him. Mother, Rita Vannelli, Father, Michael Vannelli and his sister, the late Audrey DiFronzo. In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Wednesday, January 6th, from 8:30 AM 10:00 AM at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A private Funeral Mass will be held in Sacred Heart Church, 72 Washington St, Weymouth. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers the family sincerely requests that donations be made in memory of Joe's special daughter, Jean Marie Vannelli, to the Arc of the South Shore, 371 River Street, Weymouth, MA 02191.
