CUMMING, Josephine E. (Saluti), of Braintree, died peacefully on December 6th, 2020, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 92. Josephine was born and raised in Quincy and had many fond memories growing up on Penn Street. She brought so much joy to the many people in her life. Josephine graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1945, and was on the 60th Reunion Committee. She was a secretary at John Hancock in Boston for 10 years, the Evening Division Secretary at Quincy Junior College from 1961-1981, Administrative Assistant for the Real Estate Department at Hancock Bank and Bank of New England for 10 years, until her retirement. She was also the treasurer for the St. John’s Seniors Club in Quincy for many years. She loved politics, reading the Boston Globe from cover to cover, watching and listening to political commentary. She also loved making cookies with her grandsons for every occasion when they were growing up. Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Richard Cumming of Braintree. Devoted mother of Debra Russo and her husband Wayne of Weymouth, Tricia Marchese and her husband Gerard of Burlington. Loving grandmother of Nicholas Marchese, Christopher Marchese and Scott Russo. She loved her grandsons dearly. She is also a dear sister to Elena Lydon of Braintree and the late Marie Klaske and the late Hugo Saluti. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, December 13th from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home,845 Washington Street, Braintree. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 14th, at 10:00 AM in St. John’s the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Josephine’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of your choice.
