Prior to that, she worked as a RN at the First National Bank of Boston and the VNA. She was active in the community taking part in the PTO, Braintree Women’s Club (Veteran’s Affairs, Chorale), South Congregational Church (Merry Mates, Women’s Club), First Congregational Church (Choir), Braintree Historical Society, Linden Ponds Singers. She was quick to volunteer as a chaperone for school field trips and lead Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops. She was an avid Red Sox fan, rarely missing a game and using her own scorebook well into her 90’s.

Louise was the beloved wife of the late John “Bud” Thode. Devoted mother of Larry Thode and his wife Susan of Upton, John Thode Jr. and his fiancee Lenore Richley of Clearwater FL, and Carol Pimental and her husband Joseph Jr of West Hyannisport.
