KEAVENEY, John F. CPCU, CIC. of Braintree passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family on December 2, 2020,. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Nancy M. (Hurley) Keaveney, married for fifty-eight years. He took extreme pride in being a loving father to his children: Kathleen Bowes and her husband Thomas of Braintree, Sean Keaveney and his wife Diane of Abington, Patrick Keaveney and his wife Dawn of Foxboro, Anne-Marie Herron and her husband Brett of Seattle, WA, Michael Keaveney and his loving companion Kerry Durand of Abington, James Keaveney and Michelle Sargent of Marshfield and the late Mary Alice Sawyer. He is the son of the late James P. and Kathleen (Brennan) Keaveney. Devoted brother of James P. Keaveney of Braintree and brother in law of Janice Fallon, the late Kathleen DelColle and Daniel Hurley. His greatest pride was his twenty-one devoted grandchildren: Thomas and Elizabeth Bowes, Lindsey, Kristen, Carly and John Keaveney, Matthew and Jennifer Keaveney, Alice and Julia Herron, Jordyn, Madison, and Danielle Dilorenzo, James Keaveney, Kristina, Brianna, Cassidy, Teddy, and Brady Sargent, Kaitlyn and Bridget Sawyer and many nieces and nephews. John had a great love of Ireland and visited his cherished aunts, uncles and many cousins often.

John was proud of his Dorchester roots (O.F.D) and he has remained close to many of his childhood friends. He graduated from Saint Gregory Grammar School, Cathedral High School and Boston College, Class of 1959. John was a U.S. Air Force Airman. He worked in the insurance industry for many years at Kemper Insurance, Norfolk & Dedham Mutual Insurance Company and Hingham Mutual Insurance Company where he was Assistant Vice President of Marketing. He was a well-known and respected member of the insurance industry and involved in many professional insurance organizations.

Beyond his dedication to his family, John was instrumental in helping to organize the South Braintree Girls Softball League and was a legendary coach for the Suburban Disposal Team. He was active in both Braintree Boy Scouts Troop 138 and the Foster School Cub Scouts Pack 14. John was a faithful parishioner of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish of Braintree. He was an active member of the Braintree Community, volunteering his time as a Town Meeting Member for thirty plus years, the Economic Development Committee, and a Commissioner for Weymouth-Braintree Regional Recreation Conservation District Commission (Pond Meadow Park)

In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which includes face coverings and social distancing, there will be a private Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, So Braintree Sq.
