Cartwright Funeral Homes

MACKIE, Barbara A., of Holbrook, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on November 2, 2020. Barbara attended Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester. Shortly after, she married and became a devoted and loving mother to her children. She later worked as a Postal Clerk for many years for the Brockton P & DC. She was preceded in death by her husband William R. Mackie and her mother, Hilda Mae Hall. Family meant everything to Barbara, and throughout her life she was constantly surrounded by their love and laughter. There was nothing she loved more than seeing the love between her children, watching them become loving parents themselves, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She brought happiness to everyone she met and claimed many loving hearts as her own. She loved going on cruises and on getaways down the Cape with her family. She also enjoyed listening to Neil Diamond, crocheting, playing cards, and, of course, watching her beloved Red Sox play (even after they traded Mookie Betts). A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Barbara will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Barbara was the loving mother of Deborah Joyce and her late husband John of Holbrook, Robin Salerno of Onset, Kathleen Moriarty and her husband Paul of Holbrook, Kelly Watson and her husband Sean of Whitman, William R. Mackie and his wife Noreen of Buzzards Bay. Cherished grandmother of Ryan Joyce, Shannon Duval and her husband Abe, Christopher Salerno, Hannah Salerno, Paul Moriarty Jr., Nicholas Moriarty, Colin Mackie, Victoria Mackie, William C. Mackie and the late Sean Joyce. Great-Grandmother to Abey, Jacob, Mckayla, Veda June, and the late Bridget. In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, November 5th from 4:00 8:00 PM at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So.
