VAN TASSELL, Robert F., of Braintree, formerly of Dorchester (OFD), passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family, on October 9, 2020, at the age of 83. Born and raised in Dorchester, Robert attended Boston schools. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Robert was the owner and operator of Chuck and Ann’s Sub Shop in So. Boston, which he ran for over 50 years with his wife, Theresa. He became known as “Bobby Van the Sandwich Man” by his regular customers. Robert was proud of his Dorchester roots and was most happy just spending time with his family and friends. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Robert will be truly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Robert was the beloved husband of Theresa (Keegan) Van Tassell. Loving father of Robert F. Van Tassell, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Braintree and Mary T. Flaherty and her fiancé Joseph Murray of Jamaica Plain. Cherished grandfather to Samantha, Joseph, Matthew, Michael and Shannon. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Robert’s services will be private.
