HOLLSTEIN, Shirley F. (Lakey) of Holbrook, passed away on June 17,2020 at the age of 88. Born in Weymouth, Shirley graduated from Stetson High School, Class of 1950. She was happily married to Robert Hollstein II for sixty years, and together they raised six children. For over 40 years, Shirley dedicated her life to running a daycare from her home, where she made it a point to offer affordable and loving care for children of all backgrounds and need levels. Some of her favorite activities included road trips with her husband in their Winnebago and escaping to Cancun every winter, daily neighborhood power walks, bingo, knitting loads of sweaters, finding good bargains, reading celebrity gossip rags, watching Steve Harvey on Family Feud, and keeping up with her friends and family via infamously lengthy phone calls. Renowned for her “gift of gab”, heart of gold, and sassy fashion sense, Shirley was a fun-loving woman who will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known her. She is survived by Sammy (her beloved dog and admitted favorite child), Robert Hollstein III and wife Jeannie of Raynham, David Hollstein and wife Gloria of Scituate, Cindy DeLuca and husband Joseph of Marshfield, Richard Hollstein and wife Mary of Marshfield, Jeffrey Hollstein and wife Kerry of Pembroke and Michelle Dunne and husband Kevin of Holbrook. Daughter of the late Frederick and Lillian (Dupras) Lakey. Sister of Ruth Sprague, Teddy Lakey and Marjorie Parrino. Cherished grandmother of Nikki Robbins,Amy Wissman, Ricky Hollstein, Jessica McCabe, Kevin Dunne,Matthew Dunne, Bobby Hollstein, Gregory Hollstein, David Hollstein,Brian Hollstein, Jeffrey Hollstein, Jared Hollstein, Emily Hollstein, Nicholas Hollstein, Sarah Hollstein, and 8 great-grandchildren. Shirley’s family will honor and celebrate her life at a graveside service to be held on Friday, June 26 th , 10:00 AM, at St. Mary Cemetery, 245 North Street,Randolph. All are welcome to dress casually, as that’s what Shirley would want.
