Cartwright Funeral Homes

WARD, Robert V. “Bob” of Brockton, formerly of Abington, passed away on December 20, 2019, at the age of 72, after a very short but valiant fight with cancer. Dubbed “Mr. Christmas” by his hospice team, Bob was able to pass in the comfort of his own home, decorated for his favorite holiday. Bob had great pride in his collection of Christopher Radko ornaments and Department 56 village pieces. As Bob’s health declined, friends and family members set-up and decorated 9 Christmas trees (not the usual 22!), his treasured village was displayed in a special room for viewing and holiday music was played for him often. During his seven decades Bob worked for a handful of companies, primarily Henricksons Dairy and Frito-Lay, but his greatest joy was his last job as a self-employed landscaper. Bob took great pride in his work and became friends with many of his customers. Bob loved to travel and enjoyed the New England coastline, specifically Provincetown and Ogunquit. Raised in Holbrook, Bob was the son of the late John and Lorraine (Jenkins) Ward. Brother of Barbara Gaynor of Holbrook, Eileen Johnson of NC, Joan Struble of NJ and the late Kenneth Ward. Father of Patricia Maliawco (Paul) of Brockton, Jeannine Ransom of FL and Thomas Ward (Kristin) of OH and the late Ann Anderson. Grandfather of ten and great-grandfather of six. Friend to many, Bob will be sorely missed, especially by Fred Westcott, John Sexton and the Wednesday night Doyle’s dinner group. The family would like to thank John Sexton and the staff at Old Colony Hospice for their extraordinary care. Per Bob’s request, there will be no services. If friends desire, memorial contributions in Bob’s name can be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379 or
