HOLLINGSWORTH, Rose A. “Dora” (Skeete), of Randolph, formerly of Dorchester and Barbados, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2019, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, at the age of 69. Born and raised in St. Michael, Barbados, where she attended school, Rose immigrated to the United States in 1995. Rose proudly worked as a childcare provider, where she cared for a variety of families whom adored her, located from Brooklyn to Milton, MA. For the past 7 years, she held a position as a chef helper located in MIT food service under Bon Appétit Catering. Rose was an active member of the St. Cyprian Episcopal Church in Boston, where she would lend her time and talents. She also would volunteer on Thursdays on her time off from work at the Charles St. AME Church. Where she made fish cakes and lemonade as she joined the elderly members, as they spend the day knitting booties to donate to the “Welcome Back Babies” ABCD program. Rose was also one of the founding members of the United Barbadians in Massachusetts, (UBIM) where she played a part on the Ad-Hoc committee and was an active member of the Barbadian Cultural Committee of Boston, Inc., (BCCB). A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Rose will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Rose was the loving mother of Dale Hollingsworth and his wife Nika of Randolph and Julia Hollingsworth and her partner Jamal Burke of Randolph. Devoted sister of Joyce Skeete of Brockton, Elisa Husbands of Barbados, Cecilia Crawford of Roxbury, Monica Dickson of Dorchester and the late Shirley Phillips, Marjorie Phillips Chandler, Doreen Elsie Phillips, St. Clair Skeete, Elma Phillips Carrington and Lester Phillips. Dear “Gramma Rose” to Sheldon Brown, Chentel Brown, Mikaya Hollingsworth and Michael Burke. Former wife of George Hollingsworth and former mother-in-law of Ricardo Brown. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Saturday, October 26th, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in St. Cyprian Episcopal Church, 1073 Tremont St., Boston, immediately followed by a service at 11:00 AM in the Church. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Boston. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Newton Wellesley Center for Alzheimer’s Care, 694 Worcester St., Wellesley, MA 02482. Flowers can also be sent to St. Cyprian Episcopal Church, between 9:00AM – 10:00AM for the funeral service.
