DAHLGREN, Gustaf Seth “Gus”, of Buzzards Bay formerly of Randolph passed away September 16, 2019 at the age of 78. Son of the late Paul V. L. And Madeline E. (Solmonson) Dahlgren. “Gus” was born in Quincy, grew up in Randolph where he attended and graduated from Randolph High School, Class of 1959. He had lived in Randolph all of his life until moving to Buzzards Bay a year and a half ago where he lived at Keystone Place. He was loved and cared for there, especially by Kerry, Gabe, Macy, Kathryn, Paula, Dotty, Laurie, and “Tubby”. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years in Avon, MA. He also operated a small engine repair business “G & D Small Engine Repair” of Randolph. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the New England Rose Society. He grew roses “Sweet Surender” which were known for their sweet fragrance. He also loved Fords and all of the N.E. Sports Teams. He was a Mason for 54 years and a member of the Norfolk Union Lodge, Braintree and Talib Grotto, Quincy. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era from 1962 to 1965. He was also a long time member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brockton MA.
Beloved brother of Carl V. Dahlgren and his late wife Judith “Judy” of Buzzards Bay formerly of Randolph, Paul L. “Larry” Dahlgren and his wife Elaine of N. Easton, and Sonja C. Elliott and her late husband Richard “Dicky” of Raynham formerly of Middleboro. Dear uncle of Eric Dahlgren, Kurt Dahlgren, Richard Elliott, Joseph Elliott and James Doody. Also survived by great nieces and great nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service Saturday morning at 10:00 AM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St., Randolph MA 02368, as well as visiting hours Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. There will be a Masonic service Friday evening at 6:30 PM in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree MA 02184. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Beacon Hospice, 32 Resnik Rd., Suite #3, Plymouth MA 02360 or to Boston Children’s Hospital.
