McCARTHY, Robert F. “Mac”, of Holbrook, passed away suddenly, after a brief illness on July 5, 2019, at the age of 74. Born and raised in Boston, Robert entered the United States Army after graduation and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. During his time in the military, he received several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Marksman Badge Rifle. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Trolley Operator on the Green Line for the MBTA for 38 years. Robert was a member of the Randolph ELKS Lodge # 2130, where he enjoyed “Thirsty Thursday’s” with his friends, he was also a life member of the Amvets Post # 51 in Randolph. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, playing the slot machines and playing BINGO at Foxwoods, however, spending time with his family and friends is what brought him the most joy. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Robert will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine M. (Montell) McCarthy. Loving father of Mary E. Lee-Reichert and her husband Chris of Brockton, Alice West of Holbrook, Linda G. McCarthy and her Fiancé Michael Dadak of Holbrook and Danielle M. Harer and her husband Brian of Holbrook. Devoted “Papa” to Daniel, Samantha, Jimmy, Justin, Amanda, Dylan, Jason, Colin, Kylie and Damien and “Great Papa” to Julian and Mason. Brother of Daniel McCarthy of Tewksbury, Lee Vegnani of Dorchester and Patricia Travers of Milton. Dear friend to Kevin Cairns and Lenny Keough both of Easton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 4th, from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM, in the Randolph Elks Lodge, 21 School St., Randolph.
