PHALON, William P. “Bill”, of Braintree, formerly of Watertown and Wakefield, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on May 13, 2019, at the age of 84. Born in Boston, Bill grew up and was educated in Watertown. He furthered his education at Boston College, where he played football and became a lifelong Eagles fan and season ticket holder for both football and hockey. After college he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. His education and military experience provided him with the tools needed to build a successful 30-year career at Boston Edison. Bill was a huge sports fan, an avid golfer and skilled fisherman. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball for 17 years. Bill was a man of strong faith and he cherished time with his family. He will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Beloved husband of Jean (Armstrong) Phalon. Loving father of Bill Phalon and his wife Daphne of Southborough, Ellen Phillips and her husband Mark of Hanover, Nancy McCarthy and her husband Bobby of So. Weymouth, Susan Flanders and her husband Sean of Braintree, and Laurie Doherty and her husband Brian of CT. Devoted Papa of Danielle, Amanda, Katelyn, Stephanie, Mark, Ryan, Connor, Liam, Kate, Jack, Callum, Molly, Maggie, Sean, Megan, Ava and Deanna. Dear son of the late William and Eleanor (O’Lalor) Phalon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Thursday, May 16th, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 17th, at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree. Burial will follow in Braintree Cemetery, Braintree. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
