NUMA, NUMA, Marie-Jose Sterling, of Brockton, formerly of Port -Au -Prince, Haiti, passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 17, 2019, at the age of 70. Marie-Jose was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti on November 30, 1948 to Lilliane Numa Beaucluche and Edner Numa. Marie-Jose attended both the Lycee des Jeunes Filles and Lycee Petion in Port-au-Prince. Marie-Jose was employed at Little Europe Boutique and later worked for Office Assurance Vehicule Contre Tiers (OAVCT) for over twenty years as a head secretary and dactylograph. In 1975, Marie Jose wed Pierre-Antoine Sterling (late). The union was blessed with two sons. Upon immigrating to Boston, MA, Marie Jose entered the healthcare profession, providing tender loving care as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over fifteen years in the Brockton and South Shore communities.

Marie-Jose was a devoted Catholic who was known for practicing her Marian devotions and novenas. She was a skilled cook and immaculate homemaker, renowned for her hospitality and special recipes for traditional Haitian dishes. Known as Mummy Fifi to her intimates because of her motherly fussing, Marie-Jose was ever the lady. She insisted on propriety and impeccable dress and presentation in all settings. Out of her largesse, Marie-Jose contributed to the education and advancement of numerous beneficiaries over the years.

Marie-Jose was a loyal confidante and loving caretaker to countless souls who will miss her sorely. She is survived by her sons, Wladimir Sterling (and wife Nadege), as well as Reginald Sterling. Both sons reside in Brockton, MA. Loving grandmother of Clarisse Sterling. Devoted sister of Fritzner Garnier, Mimose Chery-Kaba, Myrlande Numa Chery, and the late Berthony Numa and Magaly Numa LaPointe Also survived by numerous cousins, including Myrlande Zamor and many nieces, nephews and godchildren, including Keinah Lapointe. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, April 26th, from 5:00 9:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St., (Rt. 28) Randolph. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 27th, at 11:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 54 Lyman Street, Brockton. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
