GRIFFIN, Melvin Benjamin of Randolph, formerly of Roxbury, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving wife on January 6, 2019, at the age of 90. Born in Fort Valley, GA, Mel was raised in and educated in Roxbury. He graduated from English High School. Mel selflessly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was a long time member of the Masonic Temple in Boston. Mel was a natural entrepreneur, along with his brothers Ronnie and Jimmie, they started a mobile auto glass repair business right from Mel’s kitchen table in Randolph. Through hard work and commitment, they opened Melvin’s Auto Glass and Service on Blue Hill Ave in Roxbury. Later in life, he met Margaret Jordan, whom he spent 35 wonderful years with. Mel embraced life with energy and compassion. He was a devoted friend, mentor, loving husband, father, and brother. With a big smile and sense of humor he lived in the present, without thinking much about the past, or worrying about the future. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Beloved husband of Margaret Jordan. Loving father of Matthew W. Taylor of Jamaica Plain and Robbin Randolph of NC. Beloved mentee Mike Guinier of FL. Devoted brother of Sylvia Ann Turner of NV, Ron Griffin of Brockton, Robin Griffin Cascieri of Willmington, and the late Charles Griffin and James Griffin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Thursday, January 17, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM, in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following at 11:30 AM in the Cartwright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
