HASSAN, Helen “Bernice” (Collins) Hassan, passed away August 27, 2018 at the age of 93.

Born July 13, 1925 of Braintree, formerly of Weymouth and Newton. Beloved wife of the late Abdo “Turk” Hassan. Devoted mother of John Hassan and his late wife Beverly of Whitman, Richard Hassan and his wife Geraldine of Plymouth, Debra Luddy and her husband Mark of Plymouth, David Hassan and his wife Kathleen of Naples, Florida, and Donald Hassan and his wife Amanda of Providence, Rhode Island. Loving grandmother to David and his wife Daniella, Brett and his wife Kate, Elizabeth, Daniel, Alex and his wife Carolyn, Cole, Helen, Maxx and Erik. Great grandmother to Lila, Nolan, Emmy and Gia.

Bernie had a passion for life making every minute count. She was an avid golfer, card player and dancer. Bernie danced in the USO during WWII. Plying her love of the above at Wollaston Golf Club for the past 52 years and at Quail Ridge in Florida for the last 22 winters. Bernie loved playing bridge, canasta and hand and foot with her regular groups at both clubs. Her golf triumphs were well documented. Bernie was a former club champion at South Shore Country Club in Hingham and at Wollaston. At age 60 Bernie won the Class “B” state championship and was a nine time winner of the Wollaston Octogenarian Tournament including a win as a nonagenarian. Bernie is a past president of the Ladies of Wollaston and the Women’s South Shore Golf League, a member of the Emblem Club, Eastern Star and president Toast Mistress Club of Quincy. Bernie and Turk were world travelers having visited every country in Europe, as well as China, Egypt, Canada and Russia.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St., Randolph MA 02368. Followed by a funeral service Friday, August 31, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy, MA.
