O'LEARY, Helen G., of Randolph, formerly of Savin Hill, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2018, at the age 86. Born in Boston, Helen attended St. William’s Grammar School, Mt. St. Joseph Academy, where she was the class statistician, and graduated summa cum laude from Boston College, Class of 1966, where she received her BS in education. She graduated 2nd in her class and was awarded the O’Connor Medal for outstanding extracurricular and scholastic achievement. At Boston State College, Helen earned a MEd in 1972. She also had additional course work in educational psychology. Helen moved to Randolph in 1969 and was a Special Education teacher for 31 years in the Randolph Public Schools. As a special education teacher, she wore many hats during her career, including those of teacher, nurse and social worker. She was an active member of St. Bernadette Parish working on the Spiritual Development Commission and in the Religious Education program developing a program for special needs students, as well as singing in the choir and song leading. Upon her retirement, Helen did volunteer work for the Randolph Community Partnership and for the Literacy Connection in Brighton. She would also assist in driving for the Parish Outreach programs and as an accompanist for the Belles and Beaux, entertaining in nursing homes and day care facilities. She was a founding member of the Randolph Schools Retirees and would arrange luncheons for the Retirees. More recently, she would play piano and entertain the residents of Sunrise Assisted Living in Cohasset, where she has been a resident for the past 3 years. Helen was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Regele) O’Leary. Sister of the late John J. O’Leary, Jr. Dear aunt of Kathleen Hewitt, John O’Leary, Brian O’Leary and Ann Tramonte. Also survived by several grand nieces and nephews and her beloved cat “Wolfie”. The family would like to thank the staff of the Sunrise Assisted Living in Cohasset for the outstanding care and support for Helen that she received during her stay there. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rt. 28) Randolph, until 9:00 AM on Friday, June 22nd, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Bernadette Church, 1031 No. Main St., Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, June 21st from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her name to a Charity of one’s choice.
