Cartwright Funeral Homes

Our beloved Brother, Dad, Grandpa, GG, left his journey on earth on Friday, June 8th to be with his love, Rita. Born on September 9, 1926, he grew up in Boston, served in the Army during WWII and married Rita Farmer on June 11, 1949. Dad worked as a tool and dye maker for Merriman, Inc. starting at the age of 18 in Jamaica Plain. The company moved to Hingham in 1963 and he retired at the age of 63 with second longest tenure at the time. Dad loved golfing, bowling, sailing and spending winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL. His lifelong passion for gardening continued through the season last year. He lived in Holbrook for more than 60 years before moving to Plymouth in 2014. He will be dearly missed by sister Phyllis Biggs, sons Bruce and his wife Denise, David, daughters Linda and husband Bob Macallister and Judy and husband Tom Dennis, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and our Farmer family. He was predeceased by his brother, Bob. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to his Holbrook and Plymouth neighbors, to all his caregivers and to the loving staff at Brookdale Assisted Living. You were his family too. Visiting hours will be on June 23rd, 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a memorial service at Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 South Franklin St., Holbrook. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Holbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nathan Hale Foundation, 763 State Rd., Plymouth, MA 02360.
