McLARNON, Sarah I., age 97, of Braintree, formerly of Weymouth and Hobe Sound, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, having lived a long and wonderful life. Born in Birkenhead, England, Sarah was only 5 when she immigrated, with her parents and sisters, to the United States. Growing up in Quincy, Sarah had many fond memories of time spent with her family and many cousins. A former nurse at Lahey Clinic in Boston, MA, Sarah was very proud of the fact that she was one of Dr. Lahey’s first nurses. Sarah was a traveler at heart, and spent many wonderful years traveling throughout the United States and Europe. She counted her cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean among her favorite trips. Her retirement to Florida lasted 28 years and she enjoyed many close friendships there, while returning each year to summer in Massachusetts with her sisters and their families. Sarah was predeceased by her parents Ellen (Morris) and Daniel, her longtime partner Russell Pittipas, her sisters Mary and Margaret and their spouses John (Dowling) and William (Perry). She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be said on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 9:30am at Saint Thomas More Church, 7 Hawthorn Rd., Braintree, MA, followed by a burial at Blue Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends and relatives are asked to make a donation to one of Sarah’s favorite places; Hope Rural School, 15929 Southwest 150th Street, Indiantown, FL 34956.
