CONNOLLY, Mary C. (Doyle) The family of Mary C. Connolly announces with great sadness that Mary, the Irish Colleen with a wonderful spirit, a great sense of humor, and much loved by everyone she met, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 92. She joins the wide and loving circle of friends and family who have gone before her, including her husband, Edward P. Connolly, and son, Paul W. Connolly. Born and raised in Boston, Mary graduated from the Alfred Hitchcock Secretarial School. Mary worked as a secretary for the Town of Braintree, working in the offices of the Town Clerk, Assessors Office and eventually retiring from the Braintree Fire Dept. after 17 years. She was an active member of the Braintree Catholic Women’s Club and volunteered as a baby sitter during services at the Winthrop Congregational Church in Holbrook. Mary was a lifelong fan of Irish dance and music, took up quilting in her retirement years and belonged to various quilting guilds - Cross Town Quilters, Herring Run Quilters and the Pembroke Bee’s Quilting Guild. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary will be greatly missed by her surviving children, Patricia M. Connolly–Curtis and her husband Stephen of Scituate; Eileen T. Jasie and her husband Peter of Bow, NH; Edward P. Connolly, Jr. and his wife Alicia of Canterbury, NH. She is also the sister of the late Dorothy M. Orlando and Teresa A. Milroy. A dear “Grandee” to Neal, Matthew, Ryan and his wife Nicole, and Shannon as well as great grandmother of Daphne. Reposing at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, until 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 23rd, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday, January 22nd from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Burial in the Braintree Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Friends of Home Care at South Shore Hospital or Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
