BEECHINOR, Mary Ellen, “Eileen” (Higgins) born to James and Catherine Higgins (Tighe) in Dangan, district of Tuam, County Galway, Ireland, passed away on January 14, 2018 at the age of 90. Eileen became a naturalized U.S. citizen May 24, 1954. Wife of the late John J. Beechinor Sr., married on September 25, 1954 at St. Mark’s Church in Dorchester, MA. Eileen has been a resident of Braintree, MA for over 41 years, a summer resident of Humarock, MA for over 55 years, and was formerly of St. Matthew’s Parish, Dorchester. Loving mother of Robert Beechinor and his wife Pamela Wackowski of Andover, Catherine and her husband James Parker of Marshfield, John Beechinor and his wife Mary of Westwood, and Gerardine and her husband Gerry Tripp of Humarock. Devoted sister to Anna Higgins of Weymouth, and the late Michael and Jack Higgins of Ireland. Survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Eileen was a lifelong caregiver both professionally and voluntarily. Employed by several Catholic Churches on the South Shore, Eileen found time to care for many others throughout her lifetime. Eileen enjoyed a long career as a medical assistant to several doctors on the South Shore. She was a devoted Catholic and Perpetual Member of the Archconfraternity of the Holy Ghost. Reposing at the Cartwright –Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington Street, Braintree. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM in the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree (directly across the street from the Funeral Home). Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary E. Beechinor’s name to “The Friends of the Duxbury Council on Aging” for the “intermissions/respite program,” P.O. Box 2113, Duxbury, MA 02331.
