LUM, Robert S. “Bob”, passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer, December 25, 2017, at the age of 65, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Bob was a longtime resident of both Randolph, in his childhood, and Abington, where he and his wife Tina raised their children, Allison and Evan. He was the beloved “Grandpa Buddy” to his grandsons Ford and Robert (Bo) who will miss him dearly. Bob studied mechanical and electrical engineering at Northeastern University in Boston and ran his own business, RL Design, until he became ill. Bob always said his greatest joy in life was having two wonderful children. His favorite moments were spending time with his family - watching Patriots games, going to concerts, playing his Fender guitar, listening to classic rock and driving around in his 1972 Corvette that he owned for 40 years. Above all, Bob was selfless and always helping friends and family with their “project of the week” - he had a certain expertise in all areas auto, mechanical, electrical and construction. Our lives will not be the same without him.

Robert is survived by his wife, Bettina (Wille) Lum of Abington; his children, Allison Smyth and her husband J.P. of Hingham, and Evan Lum and his wife Allie of Canton; his grandchildren, Ford and Bo Smyth; his siblings Ronald Lum and his wife Lucy of Randolph, Richard Lum of Randolph and step-siblings Deborah DeLano-White and her husband Kenneth of Salem, N.H., Pamela Horgan and her husband Richard of No. Attleboro, Wayne DeLano and his wife Mary of Middleboro, and Mark DeLano of Minnesota as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Morris Lum, his mother Mary Virginia (Nugent) DeLano (Ginny), his step-father George DeLano and his step-brother Robert DeLano.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Wednesday, January 3rd from 3:00 to 7:00pm in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St., Randolph, MA 02368.
