CASTRO, Teresita (Locsin) of Melrose, died Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the age of 88. Teresita was lovingly called Lola Nena by her grandchildren and Terry by her friends. Beloved wife of the late Benjamin C. Castro. Loving mother of Melvin Castro and his wife Arleen of Baltimore, Maryland (MD), Lorna McGinty and her husband John of Baltimore, MD, Marijo Fadrigalan and her husband Tom of E. Taunton, Catherine Genthner and her husband James of Baltimore, MD, Carlos Castro and his wife Mary of Framingham, Cristina Palmisano and her husband Robert of Baltimore, MD, Manny Castro and his wife Lisa of Baltimore, MD, Ana Castro and her fiancé Brian Dempsey of Hingham and Grace Soriano and her husband Ruel of Hempstead, FL. Devoted sister of Anita Locsin of Randolph. Also survived by her grandchildren Arvin, Ellen Mae, Steve, Maria, Peter, Marissa, Katrina, Randy, Gina and Ryan. As well as her great grandchildren Paige, Maci, and Matty. She was predeceased by her son, Edwin Castro.

Lola Nena was the daughter of the late Dr. Augusto & Mayola (Rodriguez) Locsin from Bacolod in the Philippines. She and Ben decided to immigrate with all nine children to the United States in 1971. First settling in Baltimore, MD where she worked at Hecht Co. (now Macy’s), she and Ben moved to Melrose about 21 years ago. Terry also worked at Filene’s. She was a lifelong and faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church, ensuring that all of her children were initiated into the Church, educated in Catholic schools, taught to partake in the sacraments, and live by the tenets of the faith. Commuting by public transportation, she made time before work at Hecht’s and later, at Filene’s, to attend daily Mass and receive the Holy Eucharist. Also known as a prayer warrior to family and friends, she daily joined devotees of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Holy Rosary and the Holy Mass via Boston Catholic TV and EWTN after her retirement.

Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St., Randolph MA 02368 until 9:00 PM Wednesday followed by a Funeral Mass on Thursday November 30 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Church, Randolph MA 02368. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday November 29 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Private graveside services will take place at a later date in Baltimore, MD.
