Lola Nena was the daughter of the late Dr. Augusto & Mayola (Rodriguez) Locsin from Bacolod in the Philippines. She and Ben decided to immigrate with all nine children to the United States in 1971. First settling in Baltimore, MD where she worked at Hecht Co. (now Macy’s), she and Ben moved to Melrose about 21 years ago. Terry also worked at Filene’s. She was a lifelong and faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church, ensuring that all of her children were initiated into the Church, educated in Catholic schools, taught to partake in the sacraments, and live by the tenets of the faith. Commuting by public transportation, she made time before work at Hecht’s and later, at Filene’s, to attend daily Mass and receive the Holy Eucharist. Also known as a prayer warrior to family and friends, she daily joined devotees of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Holy Rosary and the Holy Mass via Boston Catholic TV and EWTN after her retirement.
