Obituaries

O'BRIEN, Kevin M., of Randolph, Mass. age 59 died peacefully in his home on September 20, 2017 at 9:50am after a 4 year, hard fought battle with head/neck cancer. Dearly beloved husband of Judi (Rygiel) O'Brien of Randolph. Loving father of Stefani (O'Brien) Nichols and her husband Mike Nichols of Abington, Kerri O'Brien of Dorchester and loving step father of Melanie Panzera of Randolph. Dear son of Mary (Boyd) O'Brien and the Late John O'Brien of Holbrook. Brother of Jack and his wife Alice O'Brien of Holbrook and Mary Ellen (O'Brien) Creutz of Holbrook. Cherished grandfather to Jackson, Lucas and Thomas Nichols of Abington. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a massive amount of loving friends. He also leaves his dearly loved animals Bia, Kay, Yaya and Yoda. Kevin grew up in Holbrook, relocated to Dorchester and then to Randolph. He graduated from Blue Hills Regional Tech in 1976 where he studied auto body. He worked in that field for several years before changing to 'banging nails', a Master carpenter; a profession he loved. He used to say 'I love to get paid to get a tan'. There was nothing Kevin couldn't fix or build. Kevin was a Harley rider most of his life. Losing his leg in a horrible motorcycle accident in his 30s slowed him down but didn't stop him from riding. He's been to countless motorcycle rallies and runs with his biker buddies; Laconia, Sturgis, Daytona, Roaring Thunder to name a few. He loved to ride! Kevin was a proud and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 21 years. He was a dedicated member of the In The Wind Group in Holbrook. A true power of example and mentor too many. Besides his love of Harleys, Kevin was a classic car enthusiast, loved snowmobiling, water skiing, scuba diving and tinkering with anything mechanical. He was a sun worshiper and ocean lover. Kevin's quintessential biker look made him popular with amateur and professional photographers and artists. He has been painted as a Celtic warrier, a Poet Laureate and is a Wizard in The Wizard Mouse by Dean Morrissey. He is dearly loved and will be forever in our hearts. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph, until 9:30 AM on Monday, September 25th, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Church, 153 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37) Holbrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, September 24th from 4:00 8:00 PM. Burial will be private.
