SCHAROUN, Mrs. Ursula ““Shula/Man Soule” (Hérard) Scharoun, was born May 31st, 1917 in Jacmel, Haiti and died peacefully August 23rd, 2017, surrounded by her family. Ursula was the beloved wife of the late Emmanuel Scharoun and daughter of the late Victor and Anita (Lafortune) Hérard of Jacmel.

The matriarch of three generations, Ursula was the much-loved mother of Bernadette Hamilton of Ontario, Marlene Wells and her husband James of Norwood, Henri-Claude Acacia and his wife, Pierette of Easton, Denise Jean-Charles and her husband Dr. Roger of Musseau Pétion Ville, Haiti. She was the dear aunt of Dr. Andre Muzac and his wife Yolenne of Florida as well as Lucadin Jean and his wife Armide of Arlington.

Ursula was the loving grandmother of Ronise Murray of Rockville, Maryland, Nadine Weekes and her husband Brian of Needham, Henry Acacia of Providence, RI, Danielle Wells and David Weber of Attleboro, Kirsten Hamilton and her husband Joel Davey of Gatineau, Quebec, Melissa Jean-Charles and her husband Joseph De Vito Jr., of Salem, Rachel Acacia of Mansfield, Régine Jean-Charles and her husband Ohene Asare, of Milton, Cassandra Acacia, Delphine Acacia, and Alexandria Acacia.

Ursula was also the great grandmother of Rachel Murray, Niall Murray, Siobhan Murray, Deirdre Murray, Corrine Murray, Sabina Weekes, Fallon Murray, Rowan Davey, Bediako Dessalines Jean-Charles Asare, Kwaku Toussaint Jean-Charles Asare, Samaya Acacia, Mia Weekes, River Davey, Meadow, Davey, Farah-Adwoa Heureuse Jean-Charles Asare, and Afia Anacaona Grace Jean-Charles Asare

As one of the earlier Haitian immigrants who arrived in Massachusetts in the 1960s, she was also well known for her culinary skills and hosting members of the community for meals and fellowship. A devout Catholic, Ursula unabashedly shared her love for Jesus Christ as well as her passion for music. She was a member of St. Bernadette’s Church choir, and was known to sing a hymn or two to her family and friends. Shula’s family was blessed to have her strength, grace, love, and wisdom throughout the years.

Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main Street, Randolph MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Bernadette Church, Randolph on Saturday, September 9th. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours, Friday, September 8th 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
