TWOHIG, Gerard P. “Jerry”, of Braintree, formerly of Charlestown, passed away on August 23, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 88. Born in Billerica, Jerry was raised and educated in Charlestown. He then graduated from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance. Jerry was also a graduate of the National Chemical Credit Association at Dartmouth College. He retired as the Vice President of Banking from the First National Bank of Boston, after 40 years of service. For many years, he coached baseball and hockey in both Braintree and Charlestown. In his free time, Jerry was an avid dancer and Bridge player. He was a member of the National Institute of Banking and the “Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association”. Jerry was the husband of the late Ann E. (Geswell) Twohig. Loving father of Jerry Twohig, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Foxboro and Jack Twohig and his wife Michele of Braintree. Dear “Grampy” of Josh and his wife Stephanie, Sean and Erin and “Great Grampy” of Jacob, Nolan and Liam. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, until 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 29th, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Clare Church, 1244 Liberty St., Braintree. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday, August 28th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Stanley Tippett Hospice Home, 920 South St., Needham, MA 02492.
