BARKHOUSE, Alfred “Al”, of Avon, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on February 22, 2017 at the age of 81. Born in Boston, Al grew up in Randolph and graduated from Randolph High School, Class of 1953. Prior to retiring, he worked as a piping designer for a pharmaceutical company. Al was a former building inspector and member of the Finance Committee for the Town of Avon. Al was an avid Bruins fan, enjoyed gardening and was often compared to Donald Duck. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Al will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Al was the beloved husband of Laura (Perkins) Barkhouse. Loving father of Dennis Barkhouse of Avon, Carol Richardi and her husband Ralph of Carver, Tammy Roy and her husband Kevin of Taunton, John Barkhouse of Avon, Laura Czarniak of Halifax and Nicole Korbel of W. Yarmouth. Devoted brother of Dorothy DeCota of VT. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rt. 28) Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Al’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
