SMITH of Avon formerly of Randolph, Andrew V. Sr.. Beloved husband of Barbara A. (Waters)Smith. Loving father of Andrew V. Smith Jr. of Brockton, Cheryl Ferrara, Barbara Manganielo and Andrew G. Smith all of E. Bridgewater, Andrea Matthew and the late Scott Smith. Dear grandfather of Kassandra, Andrew V. 3rd and Austin Smith. Born in Boston, he died in the NE Sinai June 30, 2001 after a long illness. He has lived in Avon for the past 39 years and before that he lived in Randolph. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, he was a Boston Firefighter for 34 years. He retired as a lieutenant Engine # 22 Tremont St. Boston. He was a member of the Randolph Lodge of Elks #2130 and Firefighters local 2103.

DIGGIN, of Halifax formerly of Dorchester, June 30th James Edward "Jimmy". Beloved husband of Susan (Szymanczyk) Diggin of Halifax. Adored father of Shamus Patrick Diggin of Halifax. Devoted son of John and Alice (Hartnett) Diggin of Braintree. Son in-law of Blanche (Geniusz) Szymanczyk of Quincy and the late Mitchell J. Szymanczyk. Dear brother of John Diggin Jr., Alice Elstermeyer and Matthew Diggin all of Braintree, Paul Diggin of Falmouth, Sheila DePaulo of East Boston and the late Patrick Diggin. Cherished brother in-law of Julianna Szymanczyk of Quincy, Paula Szymanczk of Dorchester, Christine Perry of Quincy, Kathleen Baker of Shrewsbury and Michele Louzan of Quincy. Also survived by 17 loving nieces and nephews. Life long friend of James Gannon of Dorchester. Jimmy grew up in Dorchester, attended St. Ambrose Grammar School, Graduate of English High School 1968 and an Alumnus of Umass Boston. He was employed by the City of Boston for the past 30 years.

MERRITT formerly of Yarmouth Port June 20, Arthur R. "Bo" Merritt beloved husband of Barbara (Adams) Merritt. Loving father of Arthur R. Merritt III of VA and his wife Carmen, Kenneth A. Merritt of Marshfield, James M. Merritt of Randolph and his wife Kathleen, and Catherine G. Hubbard of Randolph and her husband Dale. At the families request visiting hours have been omitted. The family was assisted in these arrangements by the Cartwright Funeral Home, of Randolph. Mr. Merritt died at the Milton Hospital, Milton at the age of 80. He was born in Englewood, NJ. He had lived in Scituate for many years. They lived in Yarmouth Port for about 5 years and Randolph for just about a year. He was retired from Good Year Tire Co., the Chemical Division in Needham. At the time of his retirement he was the District Sale Manager. He worked for the company for over 35 years and retired about 18 years ago. He was a Pilot with the US Air Force during WWII. He also was an avid clarinetist and founder and leader of Dixie Land Jazz Band, "Scituation Swing" (a local Jazz Band). Mr. Merritt was a graduate of Yale University, with a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Class of 1944. He was also a graduate of the Trinity Pawling Prep. School in Pawling, NY.

SANTINI of Chelsea formerly of So. Boston after a long illness June 19, John "Jackie" Santini beloved son of Mary (Buter) Santini of Holbrook and the late Edgar A. Santini. Devoted brother of Audrey Santini of FL, Paul Santini of Weymouth, Joan Vierbickas of Braintree, Claire Chiampa of Milton, Mary Santini-Shea of Norwood, and Christine Stewart of CA. Boston. He graduated from Boston Technical High. He was the owner operator of John Santini’s Studio for Hair, Newbury St., Boston. He has operated the business for about 20 years.

He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. He was an electrician for Tucker Electric 1949-1960 in Randolph and North River Electric in Norwell 1961-1978 (Sewell Electric) He was a member of Local #223. He had lived in Holbrook for many years and was an avid bowler at Westgate Lanes in Brockton.

He lived in Easton for the past 8 years and Randolph for 29years.

Rosano of Ipswich, David Hansford of Mashpee and Edward J. Wakeham of No.Reading. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Born in Boston, he died June 15th, at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. John was 76 years old. He grew up in Boston and attended So. Boston High School. He was a truck driver with Teamster Local 25 for over 40 years. He had worked for Stones Express, W.L. Meade Inc. and Star Market. He was a life time member of the D.A.V. Chapter 39 Randolph. He has lived in W. Bridgewater for the past 15 years and previously in Randolph for 32 years. WWII Veteran, he served in the United States Navy.

ALDEN, of Plymouth, formerly of Randolph, June 15th, Alson B. "Al" Alden. Beloved husband of Jean C. (Drummond) Alden. Loving father of Jean "Peg" Keddy of Canton and the late A. Richard Alden. Dear grandfather of Allan Keddy and his wife Christine and Peter Keddy and his wife Jaye. Also survived by his great grandsons Michael Keddy and Ryan Oleson. He was a retired custodian for the Randolph Public School Dept. He retired in 1975 after 25 years of service and worked mostly at the High School. Resident of Plymouth for the past 25 years and previously lived in Randolph.

Grandmother of Ronald O'Donnell, Edward O'Donnell and Kristin O'Donnell all of Medford, Dolores O'Brien and Christopher Nee both of Rockland, David Nee of Dorchester and Robert and Jamie Nee both of Holbrook. Also survived by 10 great grandchildren. BERUBE of Marshfield after a brief illness June 3, Rev. John J. Berube "Uncle". Son of the late Robert V. and Helen M. (Welch) Berube. Brother of the late Frances H. DaPrato. Dear uncle of Roger L. DaPrato and his wife Regina of Marshfield. Also survived by his grand nephews Matthew and Nicholas and his grand niece Giovanna all of Marshfield. Fr. John will lie in state in St. Francis of Assisi Church, So. Braintree Sq. on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Bernard Cardinal Law be the principal celebrant of a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at 10 AM on Friday in St. Francis of Assisi Church, So. Braintree Sq. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park. Arrangements under the direction of the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., So. Braintree. Fr. John died at the Mass General Hospital, Boston after a brief illness. He was born in Hyde Park, and grew up there. He received his education at Boston English High class of 1941, Boston College Class of 1945 and St. John Seminary Class of 1948. He was ordained a priest by the late Cardinal Richard Cushing, May 6, 1948. Since his ordination Father Berube has served in several churches including Blessed Sacrament, Cambridge; St. Vincent Church, South Boston; St. Joseph Church, East Boston; Annunciation Church, Danvers; St. Barbara Church, Woburn; and St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree where he was installed as Pastor in 1975 and retired in 1985. In his retirement he enjoyed his grand nieces and grand nephews and their various activities and accomplishments.

He was born in Quincy, MA and has lived in Holbrook since 1954. Attended Quincy Public Schools, graduated from the Apprentice School at the Fore River Shipyard, Bethlehem Steel, Quincy. He retired from the shipyard as a Ship Fitter Supervisor. In his youth he played Semi Pro Football in his youth and enjoyed playing golf.

She was a retired meat wrapper in the meat room of Stop & Shop in Braintree and Brockton Stores. She had worked for Stop & Shop for about 12 years. She was born in E. Boston, grew up and was educated there.
